Schools Show Slight Boost In Enrollment Unofficial enrollment figures for the Terre Haute schools this semester show a gain over a comparable day last year but a loss compared to registrations tor the fall semester, according to figures released by the office tf Wayne P. Watson, superintendent. Total number of pupils reported was 10,190 which is 46 more than January, 1956, and 148 less than registration.

However, official enrollments for the new term opening last Monday will not be ready until later in the semester. The total included 2,122 high school pupils in the three city high schools, 1,452 in the three junior high schools, 5,917 in the 16 elementary schools with grades one through six and in Deming School, which has an enrollment through the eight grade, and 699 pupils in the Laboratory School. High school enrollments are 127 more than at the same time last year and 34 greater than at the opening of school in the Fall. Enrollment in the scnools at the close of Wednesday were: Garfield, 603; Gerstmeyer. 905, and Wiley, 614.

Both Garfield and Gerstmeyer have four years of high school, while Wiley has only the upper three The junior high school enrollment nine more than at the same time a year ago, but 14 down from the enrollment at the opening of school last Fall.
